Welcome to our new page!

Jackson County Habitat for Humanity seeks to provide decent, affordable housing by bringing people together to build homes, communities, and hope. There is truly a need in Jackson County.

What we do: We have completed 14 homes and are building the 15th home now. Our selected homeowners go through a rigorous application process to determine whether or not they can qualify for our home-ownership program. Each selected individual/family has to complete a total of 300 sweat equity hours over the course of our program. Once the home is finished and the hours are complete, a mortgage document is created and signed  by the new homeowners. The only difference is the payment structure. As Jackson County Habitat for Humanity, we set a zero interest mortgage for each home that we build. So, the answer is YES, Habitat homeowners do pay a mortgage. We are a hand-up organization, meaning, every service we offer comes with attached responsibility for the recipient. Our goal is to create a sustainable foundation on which a family or individual can grow.
