This is the story of the Reed Family Home Rehab!
At Jackson County Habitat for Humanity, every project is an opportunity to make a difference. Recently, we were called to assess a home where Ms. Reed requested help with her kitchen cabinets. What we found was a home that needed more than just a kitchen upgrade—it needed a full transformation to ensure Ms. Reed could age in place safely and comfortably.
After reviewing the home’s condition, our team saw a greater need. We didn’t just fix the cabinets; we got to work on a comprehensive rehabilitation. Over the next two months, we:
- Installed new plumbing
- Added a new water heater
- Installed new bathroom and kitchen flooring
- Completed a few minor repairs
- Replaced the cabinets and appliances
- Upgraded the bathroom with new vanities and toilets
- Gave the entire home a fresh coat of paint
- Fixed the carport door
- And, of course, poured in a lot of volunteer love ❤️
This critical home repair turned into a full-scale rehabilitation project, and we couldn’t be more excited to welcome the Reed family into our Habitat family! Ms. Reed’s grandkids and kids worked alongside us, learning valuable skills under the guidance of our amazing construction manager, Guy Baker. It was a true community effort, and the Reed family now has a safe, comfortable, and beautiful home to enjoy for years to come.
We are beyond grateful to the volunteers and community members who made this possible. Together, we turned a simple request into a life-changing project.
