We are deeply saddened by the passing of President Jimmy Carter, a true advocate and tireless champion for Habitat for Humanity. His unwavering dedication to building a better world has left an enduring legacy that continues to inspire us all.
President Carter, alongside his wife Rosalynn, profoundly impacted Habitat for Humanity through their remarkable efforts. Together, they helped build, repair, and renovate 4,447 Habitat homes in 14 countries. Their hands-on approach and heartfelt compassion opened doors to brighter futures for thousands of families, fostering stronger communities and countless opportunities.
At Jackson County Habitat for Humanity, we celebrate the immense positive impact President Carter had on so many lives. His leadership and advocacy helped expand Habitat’s mission and bring global attention to the organization. Through initiatives like the Jimmy & Rosalynn Carter Work Project, the Carters demonstrated their steadfast commitment to creating safe, affordable housing and inspiring volunteers and donors worldwide to join the effort.
President Carter’s legacy is one of compassion, service, and hope—a legacy that we honor and strive to uphold in our daily work. His contributions to Habitat for Humanity exemplify what it means to build not just houses but homes and communities.
