At Jackson County Habitat for Humanity, our Critical Home Repair (CHR) program isn’t just about fixing homes; it’s about restoring peace of mind, safety, and dignity. This past month, we had the honor of walking alongside four incredible families, each with a unique story and a shared desire: to feel safe and secure in their own homes.

We began with Ms. Richardson, who welcomed us with gratitude. Our repairs enhanced her mobility and safety by installing a handrail outside her home, repairing the step to her porch, and upgrading her bathroom with a handicap-accessible toilet. Each improvement brought her closer to the independence and comfort she deserves.

Next, we were overjoyed to help Ms. Miller return to her home after being displaced due to a broken AC unit. In the midst of extreme heat, this repair was urgent—and life-changing. Alongside her AC, we also repaired her porch railing and ramp, ensuring safe access to and from her home.

From there, we joined the Hill family to tackle several repairs that will have a lasting impact. We reinforced their porch, built a new ramp, and are preparing to replace their roof. It’s a big task, and we’re proud to take it on for such a kindhearted family.

Lastly, we served the Dailey family by replacing worn and dangerous flooring in their kitchen, installing a new water heater, and performing a thorough clean-up to ensure a healthier, safer living environment.

Each of these projects reminds us why we do what we do. It’s not just about construction; it’s about connection. We’ve been blessed to hear these families’ stories, laugh with them, learn from them, and support them as they take the next steps toward strength, stability, and self-reliance.

We’re proud of our progress, but we know there’s always more to do. We can’t wait to see what next month holds.
