On April 25th, the parking lot of the Jackson County Habitat for Humanity ReStore transformed into a place of teamwork, generosity, and excitement as our annual Playhouse Build brought the community together for a truly special day.
Early that Saturday morning, Habitat staff arrived at the ReStore to begin preparing for the event. Volunteers, sponsors, and build teams soon followed, ready to spend the day creating something meaningful for local children and families. At 9 a.m., the event officially kicked off as participants gathered to hear encouraging words from Habitat supporter Tom Strong before heading to their assigned build stations.
This year’s Playhouse Build honored five incredible children: Aiden, Luna, Donovan, Journiee, and Emanuel. Each child was paired with a dedicated build group that worked tirelessly to bring their playhouses to life. Thanks to the hard work and enthusiasm of every volunteer involved, the teams completed the builds in record time.
The event would not have been possible without the support of our generous sponsors and community partners. We are incredibly grateful to our Event Sponsor, D&J Plumbing, for helping make the day a success. We also want to recognize our outstanding Build Sponsors: Commerce City Schools, AMT Engineering, Transouth Logistics, and Tonya Harris Sells Homes. Their commitment to supporting local families and strengthening our community made a tremendous impact.
A heartfelt thank you also goes to Pure Aid Restoration for providing necessary materials for the event and Harbin Lumber for supplying the wood used to build each playhouse. We are thankful to Krispy Kreme for helping everyone start the morning off right with delicious donuts, as well as Quality Foods for their generous donation. We also want to extend special appreciation to Mr. Terry Powell for volunteering his time to prepare lunch for our hardworking sponsors and volunteers.
Most importantly, thank you to every volunteer, supporter, and community member who showed up to serve. Events like the Playhouse Build are a reminder of what can happen when a community comes together with a shared purpose. Because of your support, five children now have a special place to play, dream, and make memories for years to come.
